The Great Commission Conference
Held in October this conference has become the new expression of the yearly missions conference sponsored by Bethel Gospel Assembly beginning in 2004. It had been the desire of Pastor Carlton T. Brown to follow upon the legacy of Bishop Williams and Dr. Ruth Onukwue to make available a conference that attracts churches throughout the North East Corridor. The Great Commission Conference stands as a major investment of Bethel to encourage other churches and believers to embrace the teachings of Christ regarding the Great Commission, and seek to partner with the Church universal in global missions initiatives.
The Great Commission Conference has hosted some of today’s most exciting and gifted preachers and artist for 4 days of celebration and instruction. Past participants include: Dr. A.R. Bernard, Rev. Floyd Flake, Dr. Henry Blackaby, Bishop Donald Hilliard, Dr. Claude King, Dr. Patricia Bailey, along with the artistry of Dr. Ben Tankard, Mary Alessi, Natalie Wilson, Anointed, Joann Rosario, El Trio De Hoy and many others. The outdoor celebration/concert at the Harlem State Building (right in the middle of the famous 125th street in Harlem –down the street from the Apollo theatre) and Marcus Garvey Park (right in front of Bethel Gospel Assembly) have attracted huge crowds and always results in the salvation of many who are simply passing by. These celebrations always take place immediately following after the conference participants have spent 2 hours of witnessing during the Operation Spiritual Thunder (100 preachers on 100 Harlem street corners) event. |
